Embracing The Right Headspace

The nearly cliché and ironically used quote “live long and prosper,” from the original Star Trek, is a great example to build a positive affirmation from. Now, for those that are not an affirmation person anymore than I am, this one may sound corny, but give it a try … “This is not the headspace I want to embrace.”

One of the definitions found online define headspace as “a person’s state of mind or mindset.” The internet has more definitions; for the purposes of this article, that’s the one to stick with, as it really pinpoints what the point of this affirmation is.

Being free of the daily stresses in life is nearly impossible and can often be out of our control. However, what we can control is how we react to it. And not wanting to embrace the negative is a great way to do just that and/or engaging the positive in a meaningful way.

When we are near someone embracing their negativity, just find the center and use this affirmation. Just the same, if we find ourselves personally going down that route, use it then as well. Now the times are varied as to when this could be employed, but in doing so we may find that second or two of peace can make all the difference.

How to say it is also interesting. There are any number of ways and words that could be specifically emphasized in doing so.

For me, it’s usually the “not” and “embrace” that I’ll focus on. Like many, I have a few examples of people whose standard operating energy is negative. It could be getting angry over something unimportant or employing various negatives in a vulgar way. Whatever it is, I’ve found this affirmation helps me remember my standard energy is positive, and or doesn’t have to be the opposite.

In the end, it really is up to each individual to take charge of their own energy and own it. Sure, there are plenty of examples that are out of someone’s control, but even then and when it’s most difficult, it’s even more vital to truly know; that this is not the headspace we want to embrace.
