Natural Awakenings South Jersey

Annual PPA Native Plant Sale in Southampton

The Pinelands Preservation Alliance(PPA) is holding its annual Native Plant Sale from 3 to 6 p.m. on April 24, for members only, and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on April 25, for the public, at its headquarters in Southampton.

Plants that will be for sale are those native to the Pine Barrens and South Jersey, including trees, shrubs, wildflowers and wetland plants. Attendees will be able to browse native plant gardens, PPA merchandise and educational displays at the PPA’s visitor center. Experts will also be on hand to answer attendees’ plant questions. Proceeds go toward furthering PPA’s mission to protect and preserve the Pinelands.

A great way to help preserve our native flora is to plant native vegetation around our homes and businesses. Luckily, New Jersey residents have lots of beautiful and interesting native plants to choose from. When we landscape with native plants, not only are we likely to save money and resources by using less fertilizer, soil additives and water, we are also helping to strengthen the complex web of connections linking native species and ecological processes in our local ecosystem.
