When deciding on the right sunscreen, it is crucial to read the label and be properly informed to fully understand the different varieties of sunscreen ingredients. It is not a secret that chemical sunscreens cause skin irritations, healthy hazards and allergies in many people.

Chemical-free sunscreens should only contain zinc oxide (ZnO) and/or titanium oxide (TiO2), and should be free of oxybenzone, avobenzone, octocrylene, homosalate, octinoxate  and octisalate, which are all irritating to the skin and cause unnecessary harm to both the human body and our environment.

It is also important to note that “water resistant” does not mean waterproof. No sunscreens are waterproof or sweatproof. The bottle should specify whether it will last 40 or 60 minutes while swimming or sweating.
