Yoga for Living Hosts Teen Mindfulness Workshop
Yoga for Living, in Cherry Hill, will host a Mindfulness for Teen Life workshop from 1 to 3 p.m., July 23, for ages 13 to 18. Jamie Roberts, a mindfulness teacher for the school district of Philadelphia, will teach this innovative workshop.
Participants will develop the basic components of a mindfulness toolbox and learn how to make the most of their lives by gaining a better understanding of the adolescent brain. This knowledge will empower them to navigate through challenging times of transition skillfully.
Escalating demands at school and home coupled with the peer pressure and relentless use of cell phones and social media has caused teen stress to skyrocket in recent years. Depression and anxiety, once considered adult afflictions, are often diagnosed in young adolescents. Transitions can be one of life’s biggest stressors and a few simple mindfulness techniques can serve as powerful tools to help teens learn to cope more effectively with stress, calm emotional reactivity, stay focused and improve relationships with their families and friends.
Cost: $39. Location: 1926 Greentree Rd. For more information or to register (required), call 856-404-7287 or visit YogaForLiving.net.
