The Science Behind Distant Energy Healing
Oct 31, 2024 12:00AM ● By Kim CondursoAn energy healing session via Zoom may sound crazy to many. Since the dawn of civilization, energy healers have been interacting with the energy of others over great distance, from a few inches away to thousands of miles from each other. It may sound like a scam to some; yet, actually, quite the contrary, it’s science. The latest research in quantum physics is now able to better explain how energy healing works at a distance.
For centuries, many renowned scientists attempted to explain the undeniable positive effects seen from those that experienced distant energy healing. As scientific inquiry was ushered in with the Renaissance, practices such as human dissections took science thinking away from the unseen world of energy to the more tangible and measurable aspects of the human body.
As quantum mechanics made its debut in science in the early 1900’s, science took a deep dive to explore the unseen world of the very small—atoms and the subatomic particles that make up atoms such as protons, neutrons and electrons. To give us an idea of how small, a teaspoon of sugar has more atoms contained within it than stars in the sky. Scientists began to realize that the rules of science that governed our macro world did not apply to the world of the subatomic.
A strange observation at the time involved the concept of superposition, in which two opposing states exist at the exact same time. This concept can be understood using the theory known as Schrodinger's Cat, in which a theoretical cat placed in a closed opaque box with a substance that undergoes radioactive decay is technically both alive and dead at the same time until someone actually opens the box to make an observation. Better yet, think of a coin that is made to spin on its side. It’s neither heads or tails; it’s both heads and tails until the coin “collapses” onto the surface and the observation is made as being heads or tails. Electrons demonstrate this same idea of superposition. All electrons have what is known as a “spin”. There are two possible options for the spin of an electron, up or down. Technically, when left alone, each electron is spinning up and down at the same time, similar to the coin spinning on the table. Its spin only becomes specified once it interacts with its environment, the observer. At this point, we may ponder what spinning electrons have to do with distant energy healing.
In the 1930’s, an experiment was performed that demonstrated the concept of Quantum Entanglement. For this experiment, scientists took two particles, such as electrons that were entangled (meaning they spent a lot of time together) and then they separated them by vast distances. As an example, they kept one in their science lab in Philadelphia and moved the other to Antarctica. Remember, when two electrons are entangled with each other, one electron will always take on the opposite spin of the other. When the scientist went to “open the box” to make
an observation of the electron in Philadelphia, the superposition state stopped and the electron was observed to be in the spin “up” position. At the same exact time, the observer in Antarctica notices that the spin state of their electron is in the “down” position, making it seem like the two electrons somehow communicated even though they were separated by great distances.
Einstein was baffled by this phenomenon as his own Theory of Relativity proclaimed that nothing can travel faster than the speed of light. He eventually accepted Quantum Entanglement as scientific fact, referring to it from then on as “Spooky action at a distance.” Some may equate this to the idea of quantum teleportation as seen in movies like Star Trek as a person disappears from one location and reappears in another. The only difference is that it’s not matter that’s being transported faster than the speed of light, it’s information that can be in the form of a thought or an intention. Therefore, the speed of thought is faster than the speed of light and is not bound by space and time, meaning the intensity of a thought does not diminish as distance increases.
This helps explain distant energy healing. If the particles that make up atoms have an awareness of each other at great distances and we are made of these subatomic particles, then we, too, can communicate information to each other faster than the speed of light. In order for an energy healing practitioner to send their “healing directives” across space and time to another person, the practitioner must focus their mind on creating an attentive state and sending positive intentions in regards to the needs and desired outcome of the client. Quantum physics now suggests that the mind is actually non-local (not found in a precise location like the brain) and exists throughout and around our bodies even past the barriers of our skin. Since Quantum Entanglement has proven that the smallest of particles have an awareness of each other, this suggests that we have an awareness of ourselves and each other that’s independent of the brain in what we call a collective consciousness which is the energy field that connects all living (and non-living) things instantaneously to each other.
Co-founder of the Stanford Research Institute’s government program which investigates psychic abilities for the CIA and NASA, Russel Targ explains distant healing as an outcome of nonlocal awareness. In a “Scientific and Spiritual Implications of Psychic Abilities” paper, he stated, “A significant body of research now exists demonstrating that one person’s focused intentions can directly influence the physiological processes of someone far away. We do not yet understand the causal mechanism involved, but the results are indisputable, and have obvious implications for our ability to facilitate healing in others. This healing, whether in the laboratory or in a clinical setting, is considered to be nonlocal, because the efficacy of the healing or mental influence is independent of distance.”
Unbeknownst to many of us, we all tap into this energy matrix to send information instantaneously to others. Whether sending a prayer to a loved one in need or getting a phone call from someone you were just thinking about, we can tap into the power of the collective consciousness, a true marvel of science, creating connections we never thought possible.
