Gov. Philip Dunton Murphy Administration Receives ‘A’ for Pro-Environmental Policies

League of Conservation Voters

New Jersey League of Conservation Voters has given Gov. Philip Dunton Murphy and his administration an “A” for their achievements in 2019.

From strengthening New Jersey’s clean energy economy and offshore wind industry, to protecting its critical natural resources and families by curbing dangerous fossil fuel pipelines, there’s no question that Gov. Murphy has changed the direction of Trenton’s environmental policies.

In the past year, Gov. Murphy worked with lawmakers to enact sweeping new policies to combat climate change by nearly decarbonizing the state’s economy and funding one of the largest open space preservation programs in the country. His administration also unveiled a strong draft energy master plan that sets us on a course to a 100 percent clean energy future by 2050.

On top of that, the governor worked to hold polluters accountable. His administration filed a variety of lawsuits against companies that released toxic chemicals in environmental justice communities in counties including Camden, and he took the Trump administration to court multiple times to block attempts to roll back key federal environmental regulations that protect our clean water and air.
