Liberty Lake Hosts Annual Polar Bear Plunge

Mansfield Township’s Liberty Lake Foundation will host their second annual Polar Bear Plunge from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on January 21. Gutsy area residents can test their tolerance for icy waters while raising funds for the Liberty Lake Foundation, a nonprofit that supports area youths.

Funds will also be raised for Campership, an annual program that subsidizes local camp tuitions for those that can’t otherwise attend.

Less adventurous attendees can also opt for the Chicken Dip, which requires them to only enter the lake up to their ankles or knees. Immediately after the plunge (or dip), hot beverages will be available to sip while sitting around a blazing fire. The Tower Dogs food truck will be slinging hot dogs and a live DJ will pump out high-energy tunes to get you motivated.

Each participant will receive an event T-shirt and high-achieving fundraisers will receive special prizes.

Cost: $25. Location: 1195 Florence Columbus Rd., Bordentown. For more information or to sign up for the Polar Bear Plunge, visit LibertyLakeFoundation.org.
