Natural Awakenings South Jersey

South Jersey Land and Water Trust Hosts Cleanup and Hiking Events This December

The South Jersey Land and Water Trust will host two events this December. A Berlin Park Cleanup will be held on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon December 9, at 27 South Park Drive in Berlin, located between the White Horse Pike, New Freedom Road and Park Drive. The event includes a discussion about the historic and natural aspects of the area. Participants are advised to bring work clothes, comfortable shoes and water. Ample parking is available, but participants are requested to RSVP.

On Saturday, December 16 from 10 a.m. to noon, a Walk in the Woods at Batsto and Wharton State Forest at 31 Batsto Road in Hammonton will take participants on a two-hour guided hike of Batsto Village and Wharton State Forest. The tour will meet at the Village Visitor’s Center. Batsto Village is a New Jersey historic site located in the South Central Pinelands. The roots of the village can be traced back to 1766; two centuries of American history are available to visitors within Wharton State Forest, accompanied by a lake, streams and various trails. South Jersey Land and Water Trust Program Manager, Michael Hogan, will discuss the history as well as identify the flora and fauna on a leisurely hike of this beautiful preserve.

Cost: Free. Location: at 27 South Park Dr., Berlin; 31 Batsto Rd., Hammonton. For more information, call Michael Hogan at 609-476-2086 or email [email protected].
