Natural Awakenings South Jersey

Healing Trauma and Pain: “Both trauma and chronic pain are the body-mind’s healthy adaptive reaction that has become stuck in the body-mind and hormonal systems.

Letting GO – Releasing Trauma and Relieving Chronic Pain, an eight-week course designed and delivered by Devpreet Kaur, is being offered by Live in Joy Yoga & Wellness, in Audubon on Tuesdays, October 3 through November 14.

Classes take place from 1 to 3:15 p.m.; a pre-registration discount is available through September 29.

“Both trauma and chronic pain are the body-mind’s healthy adaptive reaction that has become stuck in the body-mind and hormonal systems. Shifting the psycho-biological state is essential to healing,” notes Kaur.

A pharmaceutical trainer and yoga teacher with extensive experience in allied health care-as well as a trauma survivor with a disability – Kaur uses her personal understanding and skill sets to design and develop a curriculum that is interactive, nurturing and results-oriented.

Weekly classes do not include strenuous yoga poses or require sitting on the floor, and there is no need to speak about traumas or pain, assures Kaur.

“Through breath work, guided imagery, sound, gentle stretching and awareness, participants will learn to befriend the body-mind and self-soothe the nervous system,” she says.

Cost: $145 pre-registration by Sept. 29 or $160 at the door, if available. Location: 118 W. Merchant St. For more information, call 856-546-1006 or visit LiveInJoyYoga.com.
