Natural Awakenings South Jersey

Kudos to M. Rosenblatt Roofing & Siding!: M. Rosenblatt Roofing & Siding is the longest-running sponsor of Sustainable Cherry Hill Earth Festival.

M. Rosenblatt Roofing & Siding recently participated in the 8th Annual Sustainable Cherry Hill Earth Festival, earning the distinction as the event’s longest-running sponsor. The Earth Festival attracts more than 5,000 people from Cherry Hill and surrounding communities.

Two years ago, as part of their effort to support local sustainability, the company became a GAF Certified Green Roofer. Studies show that a shingle tear off from an average size home generates approximately 3.5 tons of waste. When that waste is sent to the landfill, it takes up about 5 cubic yards of landfill space.

M. Rosenblatt Roofing & Siding reports that since their involvement in the Green Roofer Program in 2015, they’ve recycle asphalt shingles from old roofs “whenever possible,” and to date, have recycled 240 tons. That equates to saving 340 cubic yards of waste from being sent to the landfill.

The company explains that recycled shingles are ground up into smaller particles and used as one of the raw materials necessary for paving roads. The amount of shingles that Rosenblatt Roofing has recycled could be used to pave 3,400 feet of new roads, the company says.
