Film Screening of Bag It in Collingswood: This month’s film Bag It, a movie that explores the impact of plastic shopping bags and other single-use plastics, will be shown at 7 p.m., May 18, at the Collingswood Library.

The 2017 Green Challenge Film Fest, a collaboration of Oaklyn Green Team, Sustainable Collingswood and GMO Free NJ, is screening a film each month to inspire community members into meaningful action by issuing a green challenge with each film for those interested in participating. This month’s film Bag It, a movie that explores the impact of plastic shopping bags and other single-use plastics, will be shown at 7 p.m., May 18, at the Collingswood Library. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and organic popcorn and door prizes will be available at this free event.

In the film, Jeb Berrier, an average guy, makes a pledge to stop using plastic bags at the grocery store and this small decision changes his life completely. He reaches the conclusion that our use of plastic has finally caught up to us and explores actions that can be taken to deal with it. Viewers will leave feeling empowered, informed and excited to create change. A short tutorial on how to make a reusable shopping bag out of a t-shirt will follow the screening.
