Bowl-a-Thon to Benefit Haiti Orphanage: We the Village is seeking bowling teams, sponsors and gift baskets to support Milano’s Be a Difference Maker goals.

The second annual Be a Difference Maker Bowl-A-Thon will take place from 2 to 4 p.m., March 18, at Laurel Lanes, in Maple Shade. All proceeds will support the completion of a classroom library at the Love Orphanage, in Haiti, as well as help fund the second annual Culture Camp.

The Be a Difference Maker program was created three years ago by 17-year-old Sam Milano as part of her Girl Scout Silver and Gold Award projects to bring awareness to the educational challenges faced by children at the Love Orphanage. Milano’s successful partnership with the nonprofit, We the Village, has helped send 19 children to school for three years and provided tutoring, books, art supplies and a van to create a sustainable village. She traveled to Haiti last June to co-lead the first Love Orphanage Culture Camp with We the Village founder Ahaiji Schreffler.
