Natural Awakenings South Jersey

Community Rocks South Jersey

Community Rocks, a non-profit organization educating communities on wellness through creative, performing and healing arts, opened its doors this November in Oaklyn. Founded by Studio LuLoo’s Sara O’Brien, the organization is designed to better service underprivileged families throughout southern New Jersey. The new location provides space for artistic expression including singer/songwriter workshops, yoga classes and live music events for children and adults.

A seasoned vocalist and certified yoga, Pilates and fitness instructor, O’Brien is passionate about inspiring children to reach their full potential. “So much of our creativity comes from our bodies,” explains O’Brien. “I begin every music workshop with yoga. Your voice is your instrument. Just as you tune it up, you must also tune up your body. Regardless of your artistic endeavor, you cannot fully express your creativity if you are unhealthy. Ultimately, I want to inspire these kids to take better care of themselves.”

Community Rocks also offers affordable children’s programs at area libraries, community centers and coffee shops, as well as school assemblies designed to boost confidence and self-esteem.

Location: 215 W. Clinton Ave., Oaklyn. For additional information, call 856-428-4444, email [email protected] or visit CommunityRocks.org.
