Yoga Workshop on Sun Salutations
Virtua Center for HealthFitness–Moorestown Second Sundays Yoga Workshop Series will continue from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on June 9 with instructor Stavroula “Toula” Grivas.
Workshop participants will explore and demystify the breath or pranayamapractice and its importance of coordinating breath with movement to optimize health benefits in the practice of suriya namaskar, which means saluting the sun. Guidance will be geared toward helping participants find and understand what they need in their practice.
Sun salutations are an ancient foundational practice used to heal and/or enhance the physical body by improving posture; lengthening the spine; increasing muscle strength; and improving mobility in joints, lung health and mental focus. Sun salutations can be modified for every level of yoga, from beginner to advanced.
This workshop is for those thatare curious about movement from posture to posture; find themselves asking, “When do I inhale and exhale?”; want to take their practice to the next level; or are looking to gain a new or different perspective on cuing for their own teaching.
