Signs the Body is Begging to Detox

When is it time to detox? The Natural Health Improvement Center of South Jersey’s Sarah Outlaw says the body speaks for itself.

“The main clues that your body is not detoxing properly are digestive issues, allergies, eczema, fatigue, and mental ‘cloudiness,’ as well as waking up during the night,” she states.

Outlaw, a clinical herbalist and clinical/functional nutritionist, explains that according the Chinese Meridian Clock, continually waking up between 1 and 3 in the morning is a sign that the liver is not detoxing properly.

“Our bodies detox while we sleep. If the liver cannot complete its detox, you may be awakened,” she says.

“There are two phases of detox: your body gathers up the ‘trash’ and eliminates that ‘trash.’ If there is liver congestion or digestive interference, the body has difficulty eliminating the toxins,” Outlaw adds.

Toxins not eliminated may recycle back through the body and contribute “unpleasant symptoms,” she warns. “Gentle food and herbal detoxes can help the body naturally cleanse and eliminate toxins and kick that liver back into gear.”
